Mercedes can be forgiven a downturn after its supremacy from 2014 to 2021. But a third year in the doldrums in 2024 would mean a temporary blip risks becoming a permanent decline.
Finishing third in the championship in 2022 then second last year is hardly disastrous, but for a team that racked up a combined total of 15 constructors’ and drivers’ titles prior to that, it’s a painful slump.
That’s what makes the Mercedes W15 one of the most important cars in the team’s history.
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff vowed after the 2023 season that Mercedes would leave no stone unturned with its new car.
So here are the six key things Mercedes must stop getting wrong it it’s to do better with its 2024 car.
