Alfa Romeo Racing celebrated a titanic milestone last month, with Sauber Motorsport - the squad behind the brand - notching 50 years of operation, originally in the hands of Swiss businessman Peter Sauber.

But, while its days as a manufacturer team are well behind it, with Sauber under BMW ownership from 2006 to 2009, the now Alfa Romeo-branded outfit continues to punch above its weight.
