McLaren’s plan to replace Daniel Ricciardo for the 2023 F1 season

McLaren is planning to replace Daniel Ricciardo for the 2023 Formula 1 season after all so it can steal Oscar Piastri from under the nose of the rival Alpine team.
After months of referring to valid contracts and commitments, Ricciardo’s set to be tempted out of the final year of his McLaren deal and the team’s big-money, headline signing is heading for the exit door.
But could he leave F1 altogether, or is a move to Alpine - taking the vacated Fernando Alonso seat that Piastri wants to avoid - on the cards?
