The Washington Capitals honored Alexander Ovechkin for passing Gordie Howe as the NHL's second all-time leading goal scorer. Ovechkin achieved this feat on December 23, 2022, when he scored his 801st and 802nd goals. He now trails only Wayne Gretzky in the race for the most all-time goals.
