Mercedes started F1’s shortest-ever pre-season testing programme with a heavily disrupted first day. It lost 3 hours in the morning to a gearbox problem that came “out of nowhere” and then struggled to get the car handling well when it returned to the track in the afternoon in terrible sandstorm conditions. In this video Scott Mitchell explains how bad Mercedes’ day really was, and what it’s lost out on with just two more days of running to go before the first race of the season
