If you’re looking for an affordable yet quality stay and play resort in the UK, there aren’t many that can match what The Vale has to offer. The hotel is comfortable, the facilities are endless (seriously…there’s a spa, football pitches, tennis courts, rugby pitches etc etc), the people are really welcoming and then there’s the golf…

The Wales National is definitely the star attraction and there’s no getting away from it; it’s a tough nut to crack! It measures 7,400+ from the back tees so I’d advise ignoring those as it still plays pretty tough even from the forward tees.

Some fairways are really wide, some are like bowling alleys, so there’s a great variety of tee shots to consider, and with a tonne of water in play, particularly around the signature stretch of holes from the 13th onwards, the course really keeps you on your toes from start to finish!

Keep an eye out for the green on the par 4 13th…it’s about 70 yards (210 feet!) wide so depending on the pin position and where your approach ends up, it might be the only time you ever walk away from a 3-putt feeling OK about it!
