Even in his early years, Naseem Hamed received the nicknames "Prince". Outside the ring, he was a real showman, constantly arousing the interest of the general public, a kind of superstar of the British ghetto. But unlike other stars like Chris Eubank or Frank Bruno, Hamed wasn't about to please the public. He behaved defiantly and aggressively both in the ring and out of it.
A proud barbarian in a loincloth, he arrogantly mocked his opponents, provoked the fans and the entire boxing "establishment", opposing himself to the boxing traditions that had developed in Britain.
Hamed's performances in the ring were a separate independent show program. He appeared in the ring on a flying carpet, went up to the ring in an elevator, entered the ring in a car, came out of a hole in the wall of an imaginary temple, he was carried out on a throne into the ring.
Today History of Boxing remember and talk about Naseem Hamed - one of the brightest, scandalous, charismatic, four-time world featherweight champion!
