8 Ways To Say No Respectfully:
1. The Awkward Pause - count to 3, this gives you a buffer while slightly indicating that you don't want to do the task
2. The Soft No (no but) - I can’t but I’d love to later
3. Let me check my calendar and get back to you - gives you time to think
4. Use email bounce backs (auto response)
5. Say Yes but here’s what I’ll have to sacrifice and let them deal with the yes or no, like "I can do that, but I won't be able to finish this other task, do you think it's worth just jumping onto the new task?"
6. Say it with humor - "you want to go jogging?" "hell no, lol" sometimes being blunt is funny
7. Use the words, you are welcome to x, I am willing to y, you are welcome to borrow my car, i am willing to leave the keys here for you (i am willing to buy you an uber, I've done this)
