Whether you do your open turn coming off on your side...
Or you do your open turn coming off toward your stomach...
It’s still incredibly important to keep the feet TIGHT to make either of them fast.

Why do it:
Staying tight on your spin will help you achieve the quickest turn for breaststroke or butterfly.

How to do it:
1 - Go grab a big pair of fins.
2 - Start swimming and doing your regular open turns.
3 - After you’ve done a few, or a set with them... take them off and see how it feels. You’ll spin faster.

How to do it really well (the fine points):
By increasing the surface area of the feet, it’s much tougher to draw the feet to the wall. The feet will need to be dragged in, slid in, rather than hooked. Our swimmer initiates the feet draw with a slide, hiding the face of the fin from the water and then slices the fins sideways to get them to the wall.

After a few turns, taking off the weight of the fins will make the swimmer feel much quicker, and more aware of their feet.
