Max Verstappen has another Formula 1 record to his name, with his Italian Grand Prix triumph marking his 10th victory in a row.
It was a fitting way for the record to be broken, too, with Verstappen made to work harder for it than his most recent victories, and The Race F1 Podcast celebrates a landmark moment that in the context’s of Red Bull’s dominant 2023 F1 campaign could easily be overlooked, but in years to come will surely be looked back on as an incredible achievement.
And while there’s a brief look at how he did it, on what was the most impressive weekend of the season from Ferrari – on home territory, too – the focus of the race analysis is on how it was able to give Red Bull something to think about, early race leader and eventual podium finisher Carlos Sainz’s excellence all weekend, and what credit Ferrari deserves for letting its drivers fight freely.
There’s examination of a ‘better kind of second’ from Sergio Perez, a solid weekend for Mercedes – despite both drivers getting five-second penalties – and another example of what’s fast becoming a ‘classic’ points-scoring effort from Alex Albon and Williams.
As ever, there’s also time for plenty of questions from The Race Members’ Club.
