Aidan O'Brien has described a decision to remove the well-fancied Jan Brueghel from this year's Melbourne Cup as 'ridiculous'.
The Leger winner failed a vet check in Australia on Tuesday morning, a week before the big race at Flemington, with the local officials stating the horse had a 'heightened risk of injury'.
The Galileo colt was the ante-post favourite to provide his trainer with a first victory in the race.
O’Brien was in California on Tuesday morning to see his Breeders’ Cup contenders, including Classic contender City Of Troy, get a taste of the track at Del Mar for the first time and was clearly unhappy with Racing Victoria’s decision.
