Anthony Borges, the hero of the Florida school shooting who on February 14, 2018 saved the lives of 20 schoolmates, saw his dream come true on Wednesday night, when he attended a Barça match at Camp Nou. Borges was welcomed by Club vicepresident Jordi Cardoner and had the experience of a lifetime, as Barça rolled to a 5-1 victory over Olympique Lyonnais.

The 16-year-old Borges, who had previously attended the Barça Academy in Lauderhill, got to watch the game from the Presidential Box, where he met Barça president Josep Maria Bartomeu, former Barça manager Luis Enrique, and other notable attendees. "This is incredible," Borges said. "It's a dream come true. I am a big Barça fan but I never imagined I would be able to be here. There are no words to describe it. It's fantastic."

A blaugrana hero
Borges is a national hero in the United States. On February 14 2018, he blocked a classroom door at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school in Parkland, Florida, saving the lives of those inside as a gunman rampaged through the school on a killing spree that left 17 students and staff members dead. The killer fired through the door Anthony was blocking, hitting him five times in the back and limbs. But Anthony stood his ground, saving the lives of everyone in the room with him.

Anthony's injuries were almost fatal, but after months in recovery, his health improved to to point where he could dream of a visit to Camp Nou. And he did so with his parents and brother, fulfilling a his dream of seeing Barça play live.
