Expect the unexpected when you work with Dave Denniston. Here's an exercise you can do sitting at your desk, but it's better when you combine it with swimming.

Why to it:
This will quickly show swimmers the importance of forearm strength and help them learn to hold the water better toward the end of a breaststroke race.

How to do it:
1 - As quickly as possible, open and close your fingers about 20-30 times.
2 - The idea behind the name is... you have to think of this as feeding a wolf. You only have an INSTANT to get the food in, and get your fingers out. You HAVE to be quick.
3 - Mix this exercise with some quick recovery work to keep it swimming oriented.

How to do it really well (the fine points):
Make sure you're extending the fingers completely, and closing them complete. The more tired your hands get, you'll see how tough it is to keep the full range of motion going.

When the swimmers don't have time to jump in and out if you're incorporating this into a set... you can always Feed the Sharks instead.
