Darren also talks about the past Open Champions who have won at Royal Liverpool, Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods with the different conditions they faced, Rory playing a very soft course, whilst Tiger won when the course was very firm and fast, playing the course almost exclusively with an iron off the tee on his way to winning The Claret Jug.

Clarke also draws on his own experience having won The Open Championship at Royal St George's in 2011. Clarke also won The Senior Open Championship in 2022, making him in an elite group of golfers who have won both The Open and The Senior Open Championship.
