Alfa Romeo was another squad that rocketed into the 2023 season hoping to capitalise on a strong 2022, when it finished sixth in the constructors’: for underlying outfit Sauber’s highest placing since 2012.

But, any aspirations it had evaporated - with the slowest car on average across the first 10 races before its Hungary upgrade, and Qatar - in the second half - an outlier as its only double points score, two of just seven appearances in the top-10.
