Tackett began the season with a win in the U.S. Open, making him the ninth player in PBA Tour history to complete the Triple Crown (U.S. Open, PBA World Championship, PBA Tournament of Champions). Tackett won the PBA Shawnee Classic for his 18th PBA Tour title and then won the PBA Jackson Classic, giving him three wins in the first five events of the season. Tackett then won twice at World Series of Bowling XIV, winning the PBA Cheetah Championship for his 20th title and the PBA World Championship for his fourth major.
