The All Blacks sat on 999 Test match wins going into Johannesburg. A win here would not only mark their 1,000th, but also lock up the 2010 Tri Nations trophy and the Freedom Cup. New Zealand had won their previous two meetings at home in the 2010 Tri Nations, with the South Africans winning all three meetings in 2009.
