Porsche was looking all set to return to Formula 1 after a 30-year absence. Then suddenly talks with Red Bull broke down, the deal was off and everything went dark. Porsche maybe isn’t coming back after all, and Red Bull is going it alone - or maybe partnering up with Honda again. Who knows for sure at this stage?
What we do know is that F1 management, led by former Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali, is VERY keen on more manufacturers coming onto the grid in time for the new hybrid engine rules that come into force for 2026.
But maybe Porsche needs to look across to its German rival Mercedes for a few pointers on how to make sure corporate culture doesn't interfere with on-track success in F1.
