Not long ago, Sergio Perez’s Red Bull future seemed doomed. He had little hope of a new deal to keep him at the team in 2025.

There were even rumours he might be replaced for this season despite being under contract.

But Perez hung on and has started the season well. Not ‘Max Verstappen well’, but he’s scored valuable points, finished on the podium in four out of five races - as well as taking third in the China sprint - and kept out of trouble.
