Americain was trained by Alain de Royer-Dupré and also raced in France at iconic racecourses such as Deauville and Longchamp, but was also a true globetrotter, with adventures to Flemington, Moonee Valley, Rosehill Randwick, Caulfield and Geelong in Australia, Keeneland, Saratoga and Belmont Park in America and Sha Tin in Hong Kong.

Other jockeys in the 2010 Melbourne Cup included Luke Nolen, Frankie Dettori, Damien Oliver and Glen Boss.

In this video, Mosse describes the race, the victory and the celebrations which occurred after the race.

This year's Melbourne Cup Carnival starts with Penfolds Victoria Derby day on 30th October, before the iconic Melbourne Cup Day on 2nd November, where Australia's stars such as Incentivise and Johnny Get Angry could meet international contenders such as Spanish Mission and last year's winner, Twilight Payment. Kennedy Oaks Day takes place on November 4th, with Mackinnon Stakes Day on November 6th.
