Williams has always tried to stay true to its founding principles of being the classic independent F1 team. But as F1 has evolved, it has found itself battling against teams going about racing in a different way. After another year spent at the bottom of the pile, the team's new owners have finally taken steps to bring Williams in line with some of the smaller teams that have beaten it in recent years.
