A minute's silence will be observed on all Serie A pitches in memory of Sven-Göran Eriksson, who passed away at the age of 76 after a long battle with illness. Eriksson faced this challenge with the same courage, determination, and great humanity that defined his remarkable career.
As an innovative and successful coach, Eriksson spent over forty years managing some of Europe's most prestigious clubs and leading national teams such as England, Mexico, Ivory Coast, and the Philippines.
His journey began in his native Sweden with IFK Göteborg, followed by a successful stint with Benfica in Portugal. Eriksson then made his mark in Italy, where he managed Roma, Fiorentina, Sampdoria, and Lazio. His impressive achievements with Italian teams include winning 1 Serie A Championship (Lazio 1999-2000), 4 Italian Cups (Roma 1985-1986 as technical director, Sampdoria 1993-1994, Lazio 1997-1998 and 1999-2000), 2 Italian Super Cups (Lazio 1998 and 2000), 1 Cup Winners' Cup (Lazio 1998-1999), and 1 UEFA Super Cup (Lazio 1999).
The entire Lega Serie A offers its heartfelt condolences to the Eriksson family.
