At last year’s ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP, Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama delighted the home fans by becoming the first Japanese winner of the event. The 30-year-old returns to Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club looking to defend his title after an impressive final-round 65, including an eagle on the 72nd hole, saw him finish five shots clear of the field. Xander Schauffele will tee it up this week as the highest-ranked player in the field. The world No. 5 is no stranger to success in Japan, winning the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. The American finished 4th at the TOUR Championship and will hope to continue where he left off after holing the winning putt at the 2022 Presidents Cup in September. Sungjae Im finds himself in great form following a seventh-place finish at last week’s Shriners Children’s Open and a T2 finish at the TOUR Championship. Tommy Fleetwood will be making his first PGA TOUR start since the Genesis Scottish Open, as he searches for his first win on TOUR. His Ryder Cup teammate Viktor Hovland will also be teeing it up alongside Rickie Fowler, Cameron Young and Joel Dahmen.
