Jason Belmonte and Anthony Simonsen take us through the championship match of the 2020 U.S. Open. Both players were seeking their first U.S. Open championships and Belmonte needed the victory to become the second player in PBA history to complete the Super Slam of all five major titles.
In 10 previous attempts at the U.S. Open, Belmonte's best finish was second in 2013 despite leading the tournament into the televised finals. Belmonte also has a third- and fourth-place finish in his career, the latter coming in 2019 when he was defeated by Simonsen.
Simonsen had bowled six prior U.S. Open tournaments and finished in the top 10 four times. His best performance was in 2019, placing third.
