Reign FC secured their second straight NWSL playoff appearance with a convincing 2-0 victory over rivals Portland Thorns at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma, Washington. The Reign went ahead in the 27th minute through Jodie Taylor, before rookie forward Bethany Balcer doubled the lead in the 81st minute. Portland, which had already secured a spot in the postseason, had to see out the end of the match without USWNT star Lindsey Horan, when a collision with Kristen McNabb led to her being stretchered off.
