Alex Albon will race for Williams in the 2022 F1 season, after he was 'released' by Red Bull to take up the drive. But in confirming it had released its reserve driver, Red Bull also said it would maintain a relationship with Albon and have options on his services for the future. Given Mercedes wasn't happy about the idea of a Red Bull driver using its engine at another team, the confusion around Albon's contractual status has made the latest move in the F1 driver market even more intriguing.
