Formula One’s soul ebbed following the sale of Williams Racing to American private investment firm Dorilton Capital, ending legendary team founder Sir Frank Williams’ more than four decade rule.

It was the deal that had to happen, and one that was not a surprise given Williams’ announced it was for sale in late May as part of a new strategic direction.
