ALMOND EYE, BENBATL & SOLOW: 5 DUBAI TURF WINS AT MEYDAN

Sheikh Mohammed, Ruler of Dubai and founder of the Godolphin training and Darley Stallions breeding operation first brought horse racing to the country in 1981.

The Dubai Racing Club was established ten years later, with the official opening at Nad Al Sheba Racecourse in 1992 - the highlight being the appearance of champion jockeys Lester Piggott and Willie Carson.

The first Dubai World Cup was held in 1996 at Nad Al Sheba Racecourse. In 2010, the iconic Meydan Grandstand and Racecourse were erected - now home to the annual Super Saturday and Dubai World Cup Carnival race meetings.

 The honor roll for the Group 1 Dubai Turf includes some of the wold's most famous thoroughbred racehorses from all around the world, including Japan, France and the UK.
