For the first time in 2 years - Marucci drops two new additions to their BBCOR lineup - the CAT9 and CAT9 Connect BBCOR. Over the past 10 years, the CAT series has evolved from the Cat5 - always making seemingly small but sure improvements to their bat technology. Will the CAT9 be an upgrade from the fan-favorite CAT8? Let's find out..
Marucci CAT9 BBCOR:
-Slight endload - the tweak they made to their grip taper makes this bat easier to whip though in our opinion.
-One-piece alloy (requires no break-in)
-Huge sweet spot - performs great on mishits - not quite as large as the Cat8 but still impressive for a 1-piece alloy
-Loud typical CAT ping
-No handle flex
-Not much sting in the hands at all
-The pop off the barrel was the most noticeable upgrade from our perspective - a smaller, but hotter sweet spot
-$350 - SPENDYYY for a one-piece alloy. A good cheap alternative to this would be the Stringking Metal Pro or the Marucci Cat7.
Marucci CAT9 Connect BBCOR:
-Endloaded and decently heavy swinging - a good grip/taper though makes this bat a bit easier to swing.
-Alloy barrel, composite handle (requires no break-in)
-Huge sweet spot - performs great on mishits
-Sounds a bit louder/deeper than the Cat8 Connect. Almost kind of a BESR Alloy sound.
-Stiff handle for a two-piece hybrid
-Very strong/powerful barrel that doesn't get bullied by the ball.
-No sting in the hands really
-Hits the ball a mile - you're likely not gonna find a BBCOR with more pop than this.
-$400 - SPENDY for an alloy barrel. A good cheaper alternative to this would be the Stinger Nuke BBCOR - gonna have similar attributes, but a bit of a smaller sweet spot.

1) Buy bats! We get a lot of our bats for free, but sometimes companies just deny us when we reach out to them, so we have to buy the bat if we're gonna review it. And we want to be able to review every bat out there for you guys! Even with companies that have sent us a free bat in the past, sometimes they don't like our brutal honesty and they won't send us bats anymore - and we could use your support to help us buy those bats. Again - we do this for the PEOPLE - not the bat companies. We also like to buy older bats on eBay to review.
2) Hire professional hitters to be in our videos - like Trace!
