Jeff Mathis Rangers 2019 season was a disaster. But it was only a disaster in the batter’s box. Rangers GM Jon Daniels brought in Ranger catcher Robinson Chirinos to fix that, but Jeff Mathis brings a lot value to a team otherwise through his Jeff Mathis framing and Jeff Mathis defense. In this episode of Baseball Bits, a Foolish Baseball production, I’ll be discussing topics like catcher framing, catcher defense, analytics, and sabermetrics.

Some players who had their careers impacted by Jeff Mathis include: Jose Fernandez, Zack Greinke, Mike Napoli, Mike Minor, Robinson Chirinos, and Lance Lynn. This is very much a story about them as well. There has been plenty of critique levied towards Jeff Mathis hitting, but Jeff Mathis has proven his value otherwise. His best defense likely came with the Jeff Mathis Diamondbacks. Mathis has already had quite the MLB career, but hopefully 2020 represents a continuation of his time in baseball.

I hope you all enjoy the episode!
